The Narrow Way

Today the image that I can't get off my mind is that of a tightrope or a very narrow path.  It is winding through difficult terrain.  Off to the side, I see a nice broad wide path with lots of people walking on it.  But the way of God is narrow.  Jesus said so in the gospels. http://bible.cc/matthew/7-14.htm

The true disciple wants to walk with Jesus, but it is not easy; the way is difficult at times.  Yet the Lord promises to hold our hand and guide us.  We need to hold on tight!  http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=2%20Corinthians+10&version=NIV

Check out verses 1-10 above.  Warnings were given to look at what Israel did and NOT do the same things:
1.  Lust after evil things
2.  Commit fornication
3. Tempt/test Christ (meaning that one does not trust Christ)
4.  Murmur or complain

Israel was punished for doing the things listed above.  We must also be very careful to not think that we are so solidly standing that we could never fall.  We must remember that we must be humble, clinging to Jesus always, and know that He always provides a way out of temptation.

As the Lord God led Israel out of Egypt with His own hand, caring for them, bringing them to repentance, freeing them from bondage, giving them food and drink,..... yet they sinned and were not permitted to enter the Promised Land.  Let's NOT let this happen to us!

We have been given the Word of Life.  Let's never disregard it.  We must learn from the past.  Let's grieve and be sad for what happened to Israel, and to us in the past.  Let us hearken to the Lord's voice and lean on Him, not on our own understanding!  He will enfold us in safety and peace!
